I love your classroom! I am going to purchase a lot of things from your TPT. I have been teaching prek for five years. I am now being moved to fourth grade writing only. YES! I did say that! I am very interested in how you transition from grammar to writing. How many minutes? What is the structure? Just looking for many ideas. I have four periods.
Sorry I am just now seeing your comment, Courtney! This new school year has me slacking on the blog! I am SO glad to hear you're excited about moving to 4th! I think it's the best grade level, but I'm a little biased. I try to weave grammar into modeling writing pieces for my students as much as I can, but sometimes I do teach grammar skills (comma rules, simple vs. compound sentences, apostrophes, etc.) in isolation. I usually spend about 10-15 minutes on a "grammar mini-lesson" and then spiral that same skill into my own writing pieces and student assessments. Click on all my posts with the "grammar" tag, and you might get some more ideas! Good luck in 4th! I know you will have a fabulous year.
