I agree it'...Thanks for the kind words, Marsha! I agree it's a challenge to juggle sometimes! My priorities are:

1. Writing
2. Grammar
3. Spelling

We go through the entire writing process every (5 day) week. On Fridays, my students score their writing partner's final draft with a rubric as I walk around and help as needed. (It takes lots of modeling and discussion about the writing traits to help them score accurately!) Scores range from 1-4 to stay consistent with STAAR. I teach grammar mostly through whole group mini-lessons, homework assignments, and writing conferences. I don't spend much class time teaching spelling. They receive their spelling list each Monday, we briefly talk about the pattern, and tests are Fridays. Hope this helps! I teach about 90 students and want to get your help on how to manage record-keeping and daily/weekly assessment info on each individual student while meeting each of their needs and building on strengths. I have taught for a long time and keeping up-date assessments while allowing the information to drive my teaching is such a challenging, overwhelming task every year! Please fill me in by sharing your management system, checklists, forms used, etc. I want to do a better job of keeping track of my kids progress in Writing/Grammar/Spelling. Thanks so much in advance! Love your ideas, Sarah!
